A Spiritual Change Is Needed
|What America and the world
needs is CHANGE, radical spiritual
change. Of course all people will not change, but if even a
few spiritually change, that can be like the salt that adds
a savor, the yeast that raises the tone of things, the positive
creative spiritual minority that is so badly needed to impress,
change and guide. We have need of the grace filled few in society
People tend to see as the solution to man’s plight ridiculous political literalisms. Every few years countries which vote democratically carry on elections that over importance is given to. Whoever is elected will not mean a spiritual change. It will mean only a superficial re-engineering of society that will last a few years until a another candidate is elected on superficial slogans spread abroad by the rich and well-to-do.
Seeing politics as the sole answer to the problems of human nature is so silly as to be comic. Literal answers to spiritual problems ultimately fail.
Then there are people who see the problems of the age as new laws to be passed. What nonsense! The spiritual decadence of this age is far too serious and deeply spread to be settled by laws. Was the problem of drinking settled by prohibition laws? No, it was not. The laws, for example, against murder come and go but murdering others continues. Should we not have laws? Of course we need sensible laws but we need to be sensible about what laws can do.
The spiritual decadence of this age is too deep for mere legalistic lawyering. We need change, radical spiritual change, to improve this world and our society.
Some say money is the answer to the problems of the world. That is also ludicrous. Look at the many around us who think money will solve all problems. Their attitude shows only that they have more money than sense.
The worship of materialism may increase the amount of money, but money does not necessarily give them sense to use it wisely. In fact it seems the more money people have, the more money undermines their common sense.
Now others say the churches imply radical spiritual change. This is not necessarily the case either. Some churches do not push the spiritual life and Christ, but can be devoted to a status quo or a creed. Look at the churches. “By their fruits, ye shall know them.” (Matthew 7 :20)
The world does not necessarily need more churches unless they bring some spiritual change. The world needs spiritual change. This comes from grace, and grace comes from God, and I urge you to ask God for grace to implement some aspects of spiritual change in individuals and the world.
The Bible notes that even when God was angry with man, “Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord” (Genesis 6:8.) So may you! So I urge you to seek God. Then you may say of this world, as Jacob (coming out of his sleep) did. “Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not.” (Genesis 28:16)
Do not expect too much. You will not be made perfect on this earth. But a significant spiritual onset all at once, or an awareness of God that inches in over years to form your spiritual maturity, may improve you much in mind and soul while enabling you to help God reach out to others.
The rich Western world is shipwrecked by materialism, drowning in moral decadence, stupidly looking to political delusions for ultimate salvation when what it needs is spiritual change. No, a thousand times, no. “Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it; except the Lord keep the City, the watchman waketh but in vain.” (Psalm 127:1) Look ye to the Lord! What is needed in this society is Spiritual Change.
